Lives to Live Making a Difference, One Family at a Time

Orange CA: Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone’s life.

As part of our Lift to Live project, we had the privilege of reaching out to Sylvia, a 34-year-old mother of five who is navigating the challenges of raising her children on her own following a divorce. After her divorce, she was homeless for a period. But today, they live in an apartment in Anahiem Orange CA. But life is still a struggle for her.

Yesterday, we connected with Sylvia and listened to her story. Today, we turned our concern into action.

Sylvia was once a nurse, but she made the difficult decision to step away from her profession because she struggled to balance the demands of her work with the responsibilities of raising her five children. Her nursing schedule made it difficult to take her children to school, attend parent-teacher meetings, and support them at their sporting activities.

Her decision was deeply personal. Sylvia shared that her own mother had not been available to raise her as she would have wished. She was determined not to let her children experience the same absence. Having become a mother at just 18, she wanted to be present for her children in ways she felt she had missed growing up.

Her story reminded us that behind every struggling family is a human being making difficult choices, carrying heavy responsibilities, and doing the best they can with the resources available.

Today, we took Sylvia grocery shopping. We watched as she carefully selected groceries for her family, including healthy food, meat, snacks, and other household essentials. We helped her load and unload the groceries, ensuring that she could take them home to her children.

But we did not stop there. We also accompanied her to a clinical appointment to address her women’s health concerns.

It was more than a grocery-shopping trip. It was an opportunity to offer support, restore a little hope, and remind a mother that she does not have to face every challenge alone.

Today’s outreach touched more than one life. It touched six lives: Sylvia and her five wonderful children (names withheld for privacy reasons).

When we help a mother, we help her children. When we support a family, we strengthen a community. And when we choose compassion over indifference, we become part of a story that might otherwise have unfolded very differently.

What a beautiful day it has been! We may not be able to solve every problem or change the entire world in one day, but we can make a meaningful difference in the life of one person, one family, and one community at a time.

This is what Lift to Live is about: seeing people, listening to their stories, recognizing their needs, and taking practical steps to help.

You do not have to be wealthy to make a difference. You do not need to have all the answers. Sometimes, all it takes is a listening ear, a helping hand, a bag of groceries, a ride to a medical appointment, or simply showing someone that they matter.

You, too, can make a difference.

Look around you. Someone may be struggling quietly, hoping for a little kindness, encouragement, or support. Be the reason someone smiles today. Be the helping hand someone needs. Become part of somebody’s story.

Because at the end of the day, the true measure of our lives is not only what we achieve for ourselves, but also the difference we make in the lives of others.

Lift to Live: touching lives, strengthening families, and restoring hope, one person at a time.
